What are the available Number Modes / Configurations?

Updated over 5 months ago

UniTel SIP services offer 4 different Number configurations.
Option 1: Assign to Trunk (default)
In this mode, Inbound calls will route to the linked SIP Trunk (that is registered to your PBX).

When adding new numbers, choose Number Mode "Assign to Trunk" and select from the available list of your existing SIP Trunks.

Option 2: Forward to Endpoint
In this mode, Inbound calls to your number will be forwarded to the IP Address of your created Endpoint. You will not be required to maintain Trunk Registration to receive Inbound Calls on DIDs configured with this mode. However, for outbound call termination, we require an active Trunk Registration or IP Authorization to be enabled.

When ordering new numbers, this option will only be available if an Endpoint was previously created. Endpoints are managed in Settings > Endpoints.

Option 3: Register to Device (legacy)
In this mode, each DID number serves as the SIP Trunk for inbound/outbound calls. Each Number has separate Trunk Credentials that are configured in your PBX. Customers with multiple DIDs are encouraged to use number mode "Assign to Trunk", or "Forward to Endpoint" to avoid having to register each DID number in their PBX.

Option 4 Forward To Number
This mode allows your UniTel Number to forward to a cellphone or landline.
